Everton have reportedly offered Lille €37.5 million for young striker Rafael Leao – but is it a good move by Marco Silva?

According to French outlet L’Equipe, cited by GFFN, the Toffees are one of three sides who have launched an official offer for the Portuguese forward.

The report claims that Valencia and Napoli have also made bids, with Aston Villa still keen on the 20-year-old.

Everton are in desperate need to sign a striker this summer, with the Toffees lacking a natural goalscorer at Goodison Park.

A move for Leao appears to a smart one. Even though he has a high price tag after joining Lille for free last summer, the youngster has justified over the past 12 months why sides are willing to pay such a large fee for his services.

He’s quick, makes clever runs in behind and has a natural eye for goal, scoring eight times in the French top-flight last season.

And although the Toffees may not be getting an immediate 20+ goal a season striker, they will certainly be picking up a future star, and with Silva’s guidance, Leao could become the striker all Everton fans are praying for.
