Everton beat Liverpool to signing of Reinier – proof that Brands is taking Blues back where they belong

Marcel Brands has done it again!

Liverpool and Manchester City were interested in signing 17-year-old Brazilian prodigy Reinier but, according to Esporte Interativo, the youngster will move to Everton in the near future in a £36million deal.

Reinier impressed at the Under 17 South American Championship earlier this year and scouts from across the country in attendance to watch him perform.

City, Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan were all interested in Reinier but it looks like Everton have convinced him to move to Goodison Park.

In times gone by, it would be unthinkable for Everton to beat some of those clubs to sign a player, so this deal just highlights how good Brands is, as well as how players can be impressed by Marco Silva’s vision, which is being backed by Farhad Moshiri.

Rome wasn’t built in a day and things won’t change immediately but with Brands being able to recruit some of the best youngsters on the planet to Goodison, Toffees everywhere should be very excited.
