Man United want Everton target Neres – How this affects the Blues

Manchester United have decided to enter the race for reported Everton target David Neres, and are planning on tabling a big money opening bid.

According to Yahoo Esportes in Brazil (via Inside Futbol), United have submitted an offer of €50million in an attempt to bring Neres to Old Trafford

While Everton as far as we know aren’t in immediate conversation with Ajax over the talented star winger, the Toffees have been linked numerous times in the past, with Marcel Brands said to be a firm admirer.

This doesn’t really change much of Everton’s current transfer plans, as far as we know. Jean-Philippe Gbamin was confirmed as the club’s latest summer signing earlier today, while Moise Kean is expected to be announced later this weekend.

Reports have suggested that Everton will next move on to securing a new centre-back, and while Marco Silva is still keen on a right-sided winger, ideally left-footed, there hasn’t been any serious conversations about Neres in quite some times.

The Brazil international is someone who very much excites the Everton fan base, and his signing would certainly not be unpopular, but it is also a move that just doesn’t seem feasible at this time.

Neres has previously stated that he intents to remain at the Johan Cruyff Arena for the upcoming season and while I have no doubt that a big money offer from United could sway his mind, I’m not sure Everton have the resources neither the European football to offer to change his mind.
