Tosun denies Besiktas return – Why Everton should keep the Turk
Cenk Tosun has confirmed that he has no intention of returning to Besiktas this summer.
The Turkey international has been frequently linked with a return to the country throughout the transfer window, with a host of elite Turkish sides said to be interested in bringing him back to the Super Lig.
Turkish outlet Fanatik even claim that Tosun’s former club Besiktas have reached a loan agreement with Everton, with the 28-year old set to fly to Istanbul today to complete a transfer.
However, according to BeIn Sports Turkey journalist Gurler Akgun (via Sport Witness), the striker has informed him that he has no intention of moving back to Turkey yet.
The £27million forward declared that he wants to play in Europe for at least two or three more years.
Tosun has fallen down the pecking order at Goodison Park, losing his place to Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison last season, with Moise Kean making his path to the first-team even tougher following his transfer from Juventus.
Tosun has been an unused substitute in both of Everton’s Premier League games so far this season.

Throughout the time he has been on the sidelines, Tosun has never shown any indication that he isn’t up for the fight to claim his spot back, no matter how difficult that path may look, and you can’t not praise him for it.
Realistically Everton need the options, so the club shouldn’t be looking to move the international forward on, but to see that he is so committed certainly makes the situation easier.
While getting Moise Kean up to Premier League sharpness has to be Silva’s priority this season, it would be nice to see Cenk get minutes to see if he can actually play some sort of part for the club in the long-term.
