Everton are ready to battle Celtic over the pursuit of Sheffield United forward David Parkhouse, according to reports.
The 19-year old forward has attracted interest as a highly regarded prospect at Bramall Lane, and with his contract set to expire next summer, interest will only continue to heat up.
The young striker’s recent goalscoring exploits for Derry City on loan have caused Everton to actively monitor Parkhouse’s progress, according to a Football Insider exclusive, who claim that Blackburn Rovers are also in the hunt.

Celtic have the advantage as things stand as, as given that they are technically a foreign club, the Hoops can negotiate a pre-contract agreement in the January transfer window.
Dubbed the ‘new Jamie Vardy’, Everton will see the prolific young goalscorer as the perfect player to go straight into David Unsworth’s Under-23s side ahead of earning a senior spot for the Toffees.
The Northern Ireland Under-21 international has previously claimed to want a new contract with the Blades, although limited first-team football could see him consider his options when the time comes.

I’ve mentioned before but I’ll reiterate that I’m always pleased to see Everton continue to pursue youth options just as much as they pursue senior players.
Signing new young talent for Unsworth to nurture each year can only help the club in the long-term, and in an age where several clubs have closed their academies down, it is positive to see Everton actively replenishing and sustaining their youth set-up.
By all accounts Parkhouse’s reputation precedes him, as does his stellar scoring record in the Republic of Ireland’s Airtricity League. If he can continue to do that in England, then I’m all for Everton spending a fee in January to pip Celtic to his signature.
