RB Leipzig forward Yussuf Poulsen has become the latest player to fall onto Marco Silva’s radar, with the Everton boss having scouts run the rule over the Dane.
Poulsen scored 19 goals in all competitions last season for the Bundesliga outfit and he has subsequently attracted the interest of a number of sides across Europe.
Everton have been linked with a move for the Denmark international in the past, and according to the Express, the 25-year old could look to leave Saxony having struggled to compete at the Red Bull Arena with Timo Werner the club’s clear star man.

Poulsen would offer a different dimension to Silva’s attack with the battering ram forward differing in style to Everton’s other forward options, and Silva is keen to continue watching the striker ahead of potentially making a move.
Silva is in desperate need of firepower up front to begin providing his side with goals, with Cenk Tosun, Moise Kean and Dominic Calvert-Lewin currently having just the one goal between them this season.
Fellow Premier League outfit Newcastle are also said to be interested, with the Magpies having a long-standing interest.

With this transfer link the positivity comes from the difference in style that Poulsen has over Everton’s other attackers. Currently, Calvert-Lewin and Kean are being used the same way, as players who can hold up play and operate with their backs to goal, while also possessing the ability to turn and run with purpose at the defence.
Kean has shown more promise in that style, with Calvert-Lewin seemingly using his stature to impose himself more than his ball playing ability. Cenk Tosun on the other hand is a big forward who doesn’t possess a great deal of power or aerial prowess, making him an awkward player to organise a team around, with his ability primarily coming through his technical application.
Poulsen is someone who can operate with the ball at his feet, but he is entirely comfortable as a target man who can use pace and strength to provide Everton with a great blunt force spearhead in their attacking line. The Dane would be a strong addition as he has the necessary quality, but he would also present a different route that Silva could use for his team.
Currently, Silva has Plan A, and if that doesn’t work, Everton suffer the consequences. A player like Poulsen would enable Silva to figure out alternative ideas should Plan A fail to come off.
