Everton eye move for Jamie Hamilton – a smart signing?
Everton are reportedly planning a move to sign 17-year-old defender Jamie Hamilton, according to the Daily Mail.
Currently playing his football for Hamilton Academical, the centre-back recently broke into the first-team after impressing at youth level for his boyhood club and Scotland’s U17s.
Everton won’t be alone in their pursuit. Wolves, Norwich City, Southampton and Derby County are said to be amongst the teams interested in the teenager.
Would this be a smart signing for Everton?

It is clear that Hamilton is nowhere near the finished product. However, he has proven at youth level that he has a lot of natural talent that could take him far in the game.
Everton would be a good club for him to join, as they have never been shy to give youth players a chance.
The Toffees have a high-quality selection of centre backs at the club, so Hamilton would be able to learn from some very experienced and talented players already at Goodison Park.
You can imagine that Hamilton would either spend a season or two away on loan or in the academy set-up before getting close to the first team. If his career continues on it’s current upward trajectory, he could become a top player in the future.
