Howard returns to Everton as USA ambassador – great move for the club

Former Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard has been announced as the club’s first international ambassador for the United States, less than a week after he announced his retirement from football.

The 40-year played over 400 times across all competitions for the Toffees over the course of ten seasons on Merseyside, before returning to the States with Colorado Rapids on 2016.

Following the end of his playing career this past week, the American has re-joined the club in an ambassadorial role, and will now represent the club in the United States as the club looks to expand its global appeal in the North American market.

Howard is just the latest former player to join the club following his retirement, after Steven Pienaar joined as an international ambassador last year and Tim Cahill joined as a youth coach last week.

The popularity of Tim Howard in the United States always screamed of great marketing potential which Everton largely squandered while he played for the club, but better late than never, right?

Aside from the business perspective, Howard was always one of my heroes growing up watching the Blues, so I’m delighted to see him return to the club.

I like this trend of recruiting former players as global ambassadors, and Howard was the perfect player to capture to hopefully expand the club’s reach in a largely untapped market. To market things efficiently, consider using an AI video generator.
