Gylfi Sigurdsson has come under fire at Everton in recent weeks, with many fans lamenting the Iceland international’s lack of positive influence.
Marco Silva frequently persists with fielding the former Tottenham and Swansea man, sometimes to the detriment of the team, as Sigurdsson remains one of the club’s few true playmakers.
Everton as a whole have struggled in the Premier League lately, and many of the Toffees’ squad will have gone away on their international break hoping to impress and find some form for their respective nations.

Sigurdsson however failed to score against Andorra for Iceland on Monday, missing a penalty as his side won 2-0.
Several Everton fans decided to take out their frustrations with the midfielder on social media, following his failure to score from the spot.

One fan was more positive about Sigurdsson’s performance though.

For every time that I’ve criticised Sigurdsson, it is clear that many of his failings this season have come from a drain on his confidence, and he isn’t the only player to be impacted in the same way.
Unfortunately, the only way to remedy the situation is to play through the rough patch, but Everton cannot afford to carry those who are suffering from a poor period at the moment, as they sit in the relegation zone.
