Besiktas to open talks with Everton over Tosun loan

Besiktas are set to open talks with Everton over a loan move for Cenk Tosun, according to reports.

Tosun has been frequently linked with a January exit, and these latest reports claim that the Turkey international could finally find a solution to his difficult situation on Merseyside.

The 28-year old has slipped behind Richarlison, Moise Kean and Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the pecking order at Goodison Park, and it doesn’t seem likely that he could force his way back into Marco Silva’s plans.

Now Turkish outlet Sabah (via Sport Witness) report that Besiktas’ head of football Erdal Torunogullari is set to begin negotiations with the Toffees for the Black Eagles’ former player.

Tosun is desperate to play regular minutes ahead of the upcoming Euro 2020 tournament next summer, where the striker wants to be a mainstay in Turkey’s side at the competition.

The report claims that Torunogullari will travel to England soon to talk to the player, who is unhappy with his current situation.

This just feels like the Cenk Tosun story of the day at this rate, because every other day we’re hearing more reports like this.

That said it would be shocking to me if Tosun doesn’t depart in the January window, and a return back to Turkey seems to make the most sense for him.

With Tosun contracted till 2022, hopefully Everton can pocket a decent fee when he eventually leaves permanently, although the club will surely make a loss on their £27million investment.
