Bernard admits to growing in confidence with every game
Bernard claims that he is constantly growing in confidence in the Premier League as the weeks and games go by.
The Brazilian joined the Toffees last season after leaving Shakhtar Donetsk following the expiry of his contract with the Ukrainian champions, and while he impressed later on in the season, a lack of pre-season saw him start off slow on Merseyside.
This season the electric winger has looked sharper and ready to influence Everton’s game, and despite his early season form, he still hasn’t found it easy to nail down a starting berth under Marco Silva.
Having been reintroduced to the starting line-up last weekend against West Ham, Bernard repaid Silva’s faith with a great goal, and the forward now feels like he is fully settling in and adapting to the speed and rigours of Premier League football.
Talking to Everton’s website (via Liverpool Echo), Bernard said:
I think so, yes, it is a process of adapting. I feel I am adapting and growing and getting more experience.
I am definitely feeling more confident and perhaps it is the most confident I have been.
I just want to keep that going and bring that belief to the pitch more regularly.
I think [beating West Ham] gives the team confidence to go forward and look at the things we are doing right. But we also analyse what we did not do so well.
Winning gives you confidence to go forward and try to continue this kind of form.
I really enjoy trying different things. But you have to be careful and make sure you do them at the right time. When they work out it is really pleasing for me, I am very happy.
I just want to carry on and do my best and, hopefully, things will keep working out.

I’m really glad to see that Bernard is brimming with confidence, because I believe that the Brazilian is one of the most naturally talented players at the club.
For me, Bernard should be a starter every week, because of the directness, the creativity and the energy he brings to the way Everton play.
Whether through the middle or from out wide, Bernard adds that spark of magic that Everton need, and the more he grows in confidence the more we will get to see from the 27-year old.
