Everton fans frustrated at further knock to Kean’s confidence

Moise Kean did not have the best of evenings as Everton beat Watford 2-0 in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.

The Italy international started for the Toffees at Goodison Park, lining up on the right side of the attack alongside Alex Iwobi and Richarlison, all behind Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

However, Kean was hooked off for Theo Walcott at half-time, and many fans were not pleased by the decision.

Everton would go on to score two second half goals through Mason Holgate and Richarlison, but many supporters still questioned the decision to end Kean’s game so early, claiming it could be damaging to his confidence.

Kean is still yet to score this season, having featured in 11 games for Everton since his big money move from Juventus.

Responding on Twitter following Kean’s substitute, plenty of Everton fans raised issue with what appears to be another shattering blow to the 19-year old’s confidence this season.

I think Marco Silva is in a difficult position, where he cannot rely on potential to save his job. With his position as manager still hanging in the balance, he needs results, and he cannot rely on someone who will be good in the future to keep his job.

Moise does need to be given more opportunities to impress, but at the same time he needs to work harder to take those chances when he gets them handed to him.

Admittedly it is difficult when he’s playing wide right, because it’s not his natural position, but he has to show a willingness and ability to adapt.
