Kean left out of Everton side last weekend after missing team meeting

Moise Kean missed Everton’s game against Southampton on Saturday after he was late to a team meeting, according to reports.

The Italian striker was left out of Everton’s 18-man squad to face the Saints at St Mary’s, with Cenk Tosun starting his first game of the season.

Many fans had questioned the logic behind Marco Silva leaving the 19-year old summer signing out of the match-day squad, and now the Liverpool Echo have revealed the reason behind the decision.

The Echo claim that Moise Kean has since apologised to Silva and his Everton teammates, having breached club rules by being late.

This was the second time Kean had been late for a team meeting since transferring from Juventus in the summer, so Silva elected to punish the struggling star.

Kean has been subject to a similar issue at international level, with Roberto Mancini leaving him out of the senior side for Italy in September after both him and Nicolo Zaniolo missed out on a team meeting.

The Echo claim that Everton now consider the matter dealt with.

Several Everton fans reacted to the information on social media, with many noticing a worrying trend in the Italian’s attitude.

This is a concerning trend that is building for Moise Kean, and as such a young player, he should be working much harder to toe the line, particularly when his form hasn’t been great.

Marco Silva was right to leave the forward out of the squad to face Southampton because the right mentality must always be paramount for the Toffees, and someone who isn’t determined and committed enough should not feature.

That being said, I’m glad to see that the situation has now been smoothed over. Norwich will represent another chance for Kean to really kickstart his Everton career, with the starlet desperately needing his first goal for the club.
