Marco Silva’s agent, Vasco Casquilho, claims that his client never expected the Everton job to be easy.
The Portuguese manager has come under fairly heavy criticism this season due to Everton’s less than impressive form and results in the Premier League.
The Toffees currently sit in 15th place in the table, having won just four of the club’s 12 Premier League matches so far.
From poor tactical decisions from the manager to the players not being good enough, fans have pointed the finger in most directions at Goodison Park this season, and although the occasional positive result has boosted morale temporarily, they have frequently proven to be false dawns for the club’s turnaround.

Given the amount of money the Blues spent in the summer too, and their early season run of fixtures, many had expected Everton to be in a much more respectable position in the league table.
While some members of the Everton fan base want Silva to be sacked, it doesn’t seem as though owner Farhad Moshiri is keen on removing the former Watford manager from his duties at this moment in time.
Speaking to TuttoMercatoWeb (via Sport Witness), Casquilho claimed that his client was always aware of the pressure his job would entail, while backing him to find a fix. He said:
Andre [Villas-Boas] is happy in Marseille and is doing well, his present and his future are the OM.
This also applies to Silva at Everton. He had a difficult time, last week he had a great result by winning out, and I am sure they will rise up the table soon.
The Premier League is never easy, it is competitive, we knew it would be tough, some results could have been different, but now they will take the right step to climb the table.

These quotes are all well and good, but much of Silva’s misfortunes this season are his own fault. Not all of them, granted he has been unlucky, but he hasn’t helped himself.
There is still a small part of me that can see Silva succeeding long-term, and that hopes he can fix all of Everton’s problems, but it’ll be hard at this point to convince many of the Everton fan base who have already jumped ship to come back and buy into Silva’s project.
For the benefit of more than just Silva’s future, but also for Everton and their fans, I hope things improve shortly, starting with Norwich next week.
