Everton could watch Simeone situation ahead of making an offer

Everton could keep a watchful eye on Diego Simeone’s situation with Atletico Madrid, according to reports.

The Argentine coach hasn’t had the best start to the season, and reports in Spain claim that the manager’s relationship with the club has been strained.

In fact, Marca (via Sport Witness) have described the situation by claiming that there is a “divorce on the horizon”.

With Marco Silva under pressure at Everton, the Blues could soon be looking for a new manager to take over the reigns at Goodison Park, and perhaps Simeone could be an option.

The Toffees had sounded out a possible deal for the highly rated coach in 2017, and despite the ridicule that the club received for being ‘too ambitious’, they did have some merit in their pursuit.

Simeone has made clear in the past that he would like a Premier League move, and with Everton’s potential and resources, it wouldn’t be impossible to imagine him taking a gamble.

With Simeone’s situation at Atletico not panning out the way he planned this season, Sport Witness suggest that Everton could reignite interest.

I will be clear – I do not think that Everton could convince Diego Simeone to move to Goodison Park, but it is a story worth discussing.

Everton’s list of targets so far (via many news sources) have represented a wide array of different styles and of different quality, from the David Moyes and Mark Hughes group to Marcelino and Erik ten Haag.

While the latter may be ambitious enough for some, Farhad Moshiri has always wanted to bring a major name to the club to really launch the club’s project into uncharted waters.

Is Simeone realistic? No, of course not. However, he would be a huge statement of intent, so it isn’t insane to imagine Moshiri trying to tempt the Argentine, even if it might be futile.
