Everton line up new contract for Lucas Digne
Everton are now preparing to offer defender Lucas Digne a new contract, according to reports.
Having signed Richarlison to a new extended deal on Wednesday, the Toffees have moved swiftly on to the next target who they want to tie down.
Digne, who signed for £18million from Barcelona in the summer of 2018, deservedly won Everton’s Player of the Year award following his first campaign on Merseyside.
The Frenchman was a constant attacking presence for the Blues while he also handled his defensive duties with confidence and poise, and according to Mail Online, Digne’s performances have seen that Everton now value the defender at around £70million.
With the club fully acceptant that Digne could now attract serious interest from rival clubs, the Blues want to tie the 26-year old down to a new and improved deal at Goodison Park.
Digne has comfortably replaced Leighton Baines as Everton’s first-choice left-back, and the Toffees know that they would suffer a great loss if they lost the Frenchman.

It isn’t a surprise to see Everton look to lock down one of their best players ahead of facing potential interest for the defender.
Digne has been so phenomenal since signing for the Toffees, and it now feels difficult to imagine the Blues without the Frenchman in the starting line-up.
After Digne, hopefully the club can continue to tie down key assets, with Bernard being another player who deserves an improved deal at Goodison Park.
