Carlo Ancelotti has identified Richarlison and Lucas Digne as the Everton duo that he wants to build a team around, according to reports.
It has been reported that the Italian coach sought assurances over what Everton’s transfer budget capabilities would be before agreeing to become the club’s successor to Marco Silva.
Ancelotti also wanted to know where Everton stood with Moise Kean, with the 60-year coach being a fan of the young striker, who he sees as someone big for the club’s future.
Football Insider now report that Ancelotti also queried the club’s stance on 2018 summer signing duo Richarlison and Digne, arguably the club’s two biggest star names, before committing himself to Goodison Park.

The former Napoli boss has seemingly identified the duo as key players who can form the base of his side, and he understandably wanted assurances that Everton wouldn’t sell either of them.
Football Insider’s report claims that following Ancelotti’s meeting with Farhad Moshiri, the Italian coach was promised that he can build his team around the duo and that they would not be sold unless he himself gave the go-ahead.
Ancelotti has also been promised substantial funds to reshape the Everton side in any way he see fit.

As Everton’s too most notable and valuable players, it makes sense that Ancelotti wanted to sound out the club’s stance on them before deciding to join the club.
Ancelotti doesn’t want to join a feeder club that allows its best talent to leave, unless they physically can’t do anything to prevent it. Richarlison and Digne both have lengthy contracts, are fan favourites, and absolutely should not go anywhere.
As well as a few other key players such as Andre Gomes and Yerry Mina, Ancelotti has a good nucleus of players to build around, providing he is given the funds to allow him to do so. It does seem as though he will be, which could mean that January will be a fun window for Everton fans.
