Cenk Tosun edges closer to Besiktas loan return
Besiktas are making progress in their pursuit of Everton forward Cenk Tosun, according to reports.
The Turkey international has long been linked with a return to his former club, having left the Black Eagles in January 2018 for around £27million.
Having twice fallen out of favour this season under both Marco Silva and Carlo Ancelotti, Tosun looks to finally end his tough Everton tenure this month, and Besiktas are edging closer to striking a deal.
That is according to TRT Spor journalist Fatih Dogan (via Sport Witness), who claims that Tosun will agree to a six-month loan after manager Abdullah Avci gave the green light.
Speaking of Tosun’s immediate future, Dogan said:
One of the main targets for Besiktas in this transfer window is Cenk Tosun. Yesterday, Besiktas have made progress. The plan for him is to play at Besiktas until the end of the season and regain some form ahead of Euro 2020.
It is also reported that Besiktas won’t pay a loan fee for the 28-year old, while they also won’t have an option to sign the striker permanently.
Crystal Palace are also said to be in for Tosun, and the Eagles will need to be quick if they wish to beat Besiktas to signing the forward.

Turkish outlets have reported that Cenk Tosun is set to return to Turkey for some time now, so this latest story instils little credence that a move is actually imminent.
It could however put the onus on Crystal Palace to move with more haste to get a deal done, should they still be interested in signing the striker this month.
Tosun has fallen behind Richarlison, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Moise Kean in the Everton pecking order, and whereas it had once been believed that he didn’t want a Turkey return, he may now be open to moving back in order to keep his Euro 2020 ambitions alive.
However Besiktas had supposedly ruled out a January move for Tosun last month, so with the ever changing narrative around the Turk’s future remaining murky, it is hard to decipher whether this interest is actually genuine.
