Why Everton remain in control of Iliman Ndiaye’s future despite interest

Share
  • Iliman Ndiaye is yet to agree on a new contract with Everton.
  • Club have offered improved terms but debate over potential exit clause.
  • David Moyes’ side can benefit from keeping the Senegalese or selling him.

Iliman Ndiaye has been one of Everton’s finest signings in the Premier League era. Since arriving from Marseille in 2024, the winger has been at the centre of the Toffees’ attacking play.

But doubt has been cast over the Senegalese international’s future on Merseyside, as it has been reported that Ndiaye has not agreed a new contract with the club, even though he has already discussed terms with them.

Everton remain positive over their current situation concerning the winger, however, supporters can also stay relaxed at this moment in time.

It is a win-win situation for Evertonians

In his first two seasons with the Blues, Ndiaye has been a joy to watch, and his performances clearly show that he is made to compete at the top level.

Losing him would leave a large hole in Moyes’ team, but supporters in recent seasons have called for the club to be run in a similar vein to that of Bournemouth or Brentford.

Such clubs have been run successfully because of their ability to sell their best players for a high amount of profit, and then reinvest the funds back into the squad.

Ndiaye is a player who Everton can greatly profit from, which will offer the club flexibility in the upcoming summer transfer window.

However, should the 26-year-old remain at Hill Dickinson Stadium, he will maintain his position as a key player and contribute to the Toffees’ rebuild.

Ideally, Everton keep a hold of all their best players this summer, but in the possibility that one chooses to leave, the club can still benefit from this.

The FIFA World Cup is a golden opportunity for Iliman Ndiaye

Currently, Ndiaye will be fully focused on his FIFA World Cup campaign with Senegal, who are set to face a tricky group that includes France, Norway, and Iraq.

So his future will not be decided until he has returned from international duty.

Yet with the eyes of the globe fixed on the World Cup, Ndiaye’s performances will be at the crux of his status as an Everton player.

If he achieves the heights that Evertonians know he can reach, then some of the world’s best clubs will no doubt push for his signature.

But a poor performance could ward off some interest, and other options may be considered.

Once again, this is another win-win situation.

An impressive World Cup display by Ndiaye will allow Everton to receive a potentially record-breaking price for the winger, but on the flipside, if he does not reach his peak level, then the Toffees can keep hold of one of their finest.

matchday.
