Man United join the race for Everton target Piatek
Manchester United have joined Everton in the race for AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek, according to reports in The Athletic, cited by Sportslens.
The report claims that United have ‘made contact’ with Milan over doing a deal for the Poland international, who has been attracting a whole host of Premier League clubs this month.
The Red Devils are looking for forward reinforcements following Marcus Rashford’s lengthy injury, and the 24-year old has emerged as a contender for the Old Trafford club.
The print version of The Sunday Mirror (19/01/2020, page 66) linked Everton with Piatek last weekend, while various reports have also seen Piatek’s name linked alongside Aston Villa and Barcelona (Birmingham Mail) as well as Tottenham and West Ham (Football.London).
The 24-year old appears set to leave the San Siro following the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic earlier this month, despite the Pole having scored 11 goals in 21 games in all competitions for the Rossoneri last season (Transfermarkt), having joined from Genoa in January.
If The Athletic (via Sportslens) are anything to go by, Everton may face some difficulty in bringing Piatek to Goodison Park, should Carlo Ancelotti shore up interest in the forward.

The Athletic’s report cites a price tag of around £30million placed on Piatek by Milan, and for that price, I would imagine Everton have other priorities.
It has been well documented that Everton need a central midfielder and a centre-back this month, while Marcel Brands recently spoke about the club’s lack of depth on the right-side of midfielder. All of these positions would likely carry more priority than up front, where Everton already have Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison and Moise Kean available to them.
Piatek has scored just four times in 18 Serie A appearances this season (WhoScored), and with Everton likely to wait until the summer to do their heavy spending, I would mightily surprised to see the Toffees sign the forward.
