Richarlison had broken his silence on rumoured Barcelona offer

Richarlison has broken his silence regarding a supposed bid from Barcelona in January, as reported by Mail Online.

Sky Sports reported late last month that the Toffees had rejected an £85million offer from the Catalan giants for the Brazil international, although Liverpool Echo quickly claimed that no such bid existed.

Now speaking to Mail Online, Richarlison has explained that the offer was nothing more than speculation, claiming he was sat at home in Brazil when the story broke. Richarlison said:

I was at home playing video games online with my friends back home in Brazil when I suddenly started receiving all these messages from people asking if the Barcelona story was true.

I didn’t know anything about it. My agent spoke to Everton and it was nothing, just rumours. It’s nice to have recognition but I want to continue to score goals and do well here.

The 22-year old has proven over the past few months just how important he is to Everton, with the Blues winless without Richarlison in the side (Transfermarkt).

The forward has scored 10 goals in 28 appearances this season, and while Everton haven’t always been at their best throughout the campaign, Richarlison has always given it his all in every appearance.

It is hugely important to hear that Richarlison has his ambitions set on doing well for Everton too. Following Marco Silva’s sacking, it had become unclear where Richarlison’s future was to be, with the forward previously claiming that Silva was like a father to him (Mirror Sport).

Now though, having signed a new contract in December, and having reaffirmed his commitment to succeeding with the Blues, good times will hopefully follow for both Everton and Richarlison.
