Everton fans urge club to hand Baines another contract extension
Several Everton fans have encouraged the club to offer Leighton Baines a new contract.
The Blues announced that Mason Holgate had signed a new five-year contract on Tuesday, while Football Insider claim that Dominic Calvert-Lewin is next in line to receive a bumper pay rise with a new deal.
However, a number of fans have called on the Toffees to hand 35-year old Baines another contract extension.
The former England international full-back has played in Everton’s previous two Premier League fixtures, deputising for the injured Lucas Digne, and he has largely impressed in the Frenchman’s absence, turning back the clock at Goodison Park.
With Everton’s longest-serving player set to see his current £65k-a-week deal expire at the end of the season, a number of supporters have taken to social media to call on the club to offer Baines another one-year contract extension to keep him on Merseyside for one more campaign.
