Allan Ruled Out with Unspecified Muscle Injury Ahead of Fulham Clash

Everton have been dealt a fresh injury blow after news of a surprise unspecified injury surfaced surrounding a key midfielder in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans.

Allan has been confirmed by Brazil coach Tite to have suffered an injury, simply described as ‘clinical’, while on international duty. The 29-year-old had been called up to replace Liverpool’s Fabinho after the defensive midfielder suffered an injury of his own prior to the latest break in the club season.

The £21m former Napoli midfielder is now all but certain to be ruled out for Brazil’s clash with Uruguay tonight and he could also be a doubt to face Fulham on Sunday as the Toffees look to resume winning ways after a sequence of unwelcome results. The Toffees have suffered a four-game winless run and will look to rectify that slump against the Cottagers.

Brazilian source Globo Esporte has shed some light on the injury by claiming Allan had suffered a muscular strain in a match against Venezuela, during which he completed the full 90 minutes of action.

The qualities that Allan adds to Ancelotti’s side cannot be ignored, with Goodison Park legend Peter Reid describing his debut for the club as ‘outstanding’.

Andrea Stramaccioni, his former manager at Udinese, recently highlighted the key attributes which make Allan such a crucial ball-winning pivot for Everton, concluding that “every manager would be happy with a player like him”.

Sadly, Ancelotti and the Toffees will likely need to do without him when they resume Premier League duties at the weekend.
