Fans React as Allan suffers Unspecified Injury with Brazil

A number of Everton fans were understandably left dismayed and frustrated after the Toffees were dealt a fresh injury blow ahead of Sunday’s clash against Fulham.

News of a surprise injury surfaced in reports from the Liverpool Echo surrounding key midfielder Allan. The 29-year-old midfielder has been confirmed by Brazil coach Tite to have suffered an injury, described in ambiguous terms as ‘clinical’ during international duty with the Selecao.

Brazilian source Globo Esporte has elaborated further on the injury by claiming Allan had suffered a muscular strain in a match against Venezuela. The Everton man completed the full 90 minutes of action and the strain only appeared to have emerged following further checks after the match.

The £21m signing from Carlo Ancelotti’s former club Napoli has been a crucial part of Everton’s system this season, having played in all but one of the Toffees’ Premier League games so far in 2020/21.

More specifically to Everton, the injury update places his availability to face Fulham on Sunday in severe doubt as the Toffees look to resume winning ways after a period of poor results. That development could see a rare appearance for Jean-Philippe Gbamin, who has sadly been no stranger to injury during his time at Goodison Park.

The Merseysiders have suffered a four-game winless run and will look to arrest that slump with victory against Scott Parker’s side.

Many Evertonians were vocal in their annoyance over the revelation of Allan’s injury. Here’s what some of the Goodison Park faithful had to say on Twitter…
