Amid Everton’s reported interest in Real Madrid playmaker Isco, the Toffees have been handed a boost in their pursuit of the Spaniard.

According to La Razon [via Sport Witness], fellow suitors Sevilla ‘does not have this advantage over Everton in the bid for Isco’.

This could be due to a number of factors, although the pull of Ancelotti and the new challenge that the Premier League represents may be two pertinent reasons in the Toffees’ favour.

Isco had previously been reported to feel that his time in Madrid is over, with one source claiming that he has had an ‘exhausted cycle’ at the Bernabeu after seven years in the Spanish capital, where he has won four Champions League titles.

Ancelotti had signed Isco from Malaga in 2013 back when he managed the Spanish giants and subsequently forged a good working relationship with the midfielder.

However, the Everton manager had previously poured cold water on the intense rumours that he was personally keen on bringing the 28-year-old to Merseyside, indicating: “It is not true that I am behind Isco.”

Isco has not closed the door on a La Liga loan to Sevilla despite the lure of English football. It is claimed that Sevilla will attempt to use the same strategy that was employed to bring Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilon to the Europa League holders last season on loan from the Madrid giants.

It is increasingly hard to tell whether interest in Isco is genuine or is being circulated by Spanish media to pile pressure on Real Madrid to enable him to have a fresh start.

Regardless, the rumours are only intensifying, with the Toffees seemingly in pole position for his signature. This latest boost may indicate there is no smoke without fire, and Isco could find himself at Goodison Park in the coming months.
