Everton academy talent Imam Jagne has opened up on life on Merseyside in a wide-ranging interview with the club’s official website.
The Swedish youth international, who moved to Scandinavia from the Gambia when he was five, spoke highly of the welcome afforded to him by the Toffees upon his arrival at the club in early October. He said:
Here at Everton, the environment is so good. They have let me know, if I need anything, they are absolutely there for me.
With how they’ve looked after me, the Club has made my family comfortable back home. It is such a caring club, with very humble people.
I do everything for my family. And if they are comfortable, then I am happy.
He also had high praise for academy coaches David Unsworth, Francis Jeffers and John Ebbrell for the belief they have shown in him. Jagne has featured three times in Premier League 2 for Everton’s under-23s and could get another runout against Blackburn tonight.
Speaking about the academy’s coaching staff, he said: “I feel like the coaches believe in me so much. Unsy, Franny and John are brilliant. If there is anything I don’t understand, I know I can go to them directly and ask them.
“I just want to learn as much as I can from them and my teammates. I am more than convinced I made the right decision to come to Everton.”

Jagne’s desire and regularity in under-23s football bodes well for his first team prospects at Everton.
He seems quite settled on Merseyside after his recent move and that could perhaps open the path to first team action in the near future, so long as he continues to thrive under the tutelage of Unsworth and co at under-23 level.
