Everton fans praise Dominic Calvert-Lewin as he reaches 50-goal mark

Many Everton fans wasted no time in expressing their delight at confirmation that Dominic Calvert-Lewin has achieved a major milestone with the club at just 23 years of age.

The forward’s well-struck effort against Tottenham in the 5-4 FA Cup thriller in midweek was his 50th goal for the Toffees, prompting the club’s official Twitter channel to publish a highlights reel exhibiting the academy product’s prolific eye for goal.

As noted by Opta, 26 of those goals – just over half of his entire tally – have been scored under the tutelage of Carlo Ancelotti. He reached the total of 50 on his 159th appearance, giving him a return of roughly one goal every three games.

By deploying Calvert-Lewin as more of a target man, Ancelotti has placed him as the keystone of his plans, a tactical change which is paying dividends.

As one of Everton’s main offensive outlets, the striker’s record is indicative of a player entering his best spell under the Italian’s guidance; and at just 23 years of age, he retains the potential to improve even further.

Many Everton fans took to Twitter to express their heartfelt praise for their talismanic “super striker” upon his 50-goal milestone…
