Former Everton defender Michael Ball sat down with Football FanCast yesterday in an exclusive interview.

The Englishman spoke about plenty of thing’s Everton, more specifically on potential signings this summer.

Ball eluded to Real Betis defender Emerson, stating that he is a ‘Marcel Brands type signing’.

The Brazilian has massively impressed for the the Spanish club since joining them from Barcelona in 2019.

Ball believes that Emerson is the exact type of player that Sporting Director Marcel Brands would target…

“[Emerson’s] got the potential and it’s the right fit for a Marcel Brands type of signing. Young, got resale value in the future, but also got the quality to make an impact straight away.”

The Brazilian would certainly be a good replacement for club captain Seamus Coleman.

The Irishman has been at the club since 2009 and has grown to become a club legend.

The Toffees paid just £63,000 for the now 32-year-old at the time – easily one of the best pieces of business in the club’s history.

However, with him ageing and the club having to now look for a replacement, Emerson could be the perfect option.

The 22-year-old has a current market value of £22.5million according to Transfermarkt.

Everton had previously been linked with a move for Norwich City right-back Max Aarons.

The move made sense too, with former teammate Ben Godfrey joining the Blues last summer.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, however, the club is no longer pursuing Aarons after other clubs expressed their interest.

Emerson may be the perfect option for the club as Ball says, but time will tell who the club opt for in the summer.
