Fabrizio Romano Quashes Everton Links to Max Aarons

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has quashed rumours linking Everton to one-time top target Max Aarons of Norwich City.

According to previous reports in The Times, the Canaries were prepared to cash in on their 21-year-old starlet following their promotion back to the Premier League but were sticking rigidly to their £30 million price tag.

That figure was deemed to be too hefty for the preferences of Everton transfer chiefs, cooling links with the right-back.

Previous links have indicated that Carlo Ancelotti’s side will look to prioritise a right-back in the transfer market this summer as Everton look to improve on their 10th-place finish in the upcoming campaign.

That led Everton to identify Aarons as the ideal long-term successor to club servant Seamus Coleman, but transfer guru Romano has confirmed the cooling of Everton’s interest in the Norwich man.

When quizzed by Twitter user @everydaydude as to whether Aarons will find himself at Goodison Park next season, the expert simply replied ‘no chance’.

Everton fans will need to trust that they could find better value for money in other markets.

Nothing should be taken away from Aarons’ ability himself; he has proven Premier League experience playing alongside current Toffee Ben Godfrey and looked to be Barcelona-bound last summer.

Although the Catalan club eventually settled on then-Ajax right-back Sergino Dest, Aarons was a serious option under consideration at the Nou Camp.

In the Premier League, Aarons helped to keep 5 clean sheets and managed 37 passes per match on average, making not a single error that led to a goal.

With 36 appearances in his lone Premier League campaign, he remained a fit and reliable option for the Canaries.

Amid other links to Zeki Celik of Ligue 1 champions Lille however, Everton will be keeping their options open this summer and should move on from Aarons.
