Virals: Former Everton Ace Romelu Lukaku Praises John Stones

Belgium and Inter striker Romelu Lukaku issued a touching moment in a Tweet that may prompt reminiscence in Everton fans.

The Belgian target man was complimentary of fellow ex-Toffee John Stones, with Lukaku labelling the Manchester City and ex-Everton man a ‘baller’.

Lukaku initiated a spontaneous Q&A session with fans on Twitter on a number of issues, including some rebuttals of criticism.

Twitter user @Ridz18_ pressed Lukaku for his thoughts on his one-time teammate John Stones’ rise to the top of English football, claiming that he ‘knew’ Stones was destined for greatness.

‘Thoughts on your former teammate John Stones’ rise to the top?’, the fan asked, to which Lukaku replied ‘Knew it from day one! Stonesy is a baller’.

Both men are integral parts of Belgium and England’s Euro 2020 sides respectively, with both men having featured in every game for their country in the tournament so far.

With a shared connection at Everton, both ex-Blues have gone on to achieve monumental feats in careers lined with silverware.

Ex-Toffees defender Stones went on to win 3 Premier League titles, 4 Carabao Cups, an FA Cup and two Community Shields following his £50 million move to Manchester in 2016.

Conversely, Lukaku has enjoyed a similar trophy-laden spell following his departure from Goodison Park.

Having previously been on the books of Chelsea, Lukaku left Goodison for a mammoth £76 million fee to join Manchester United in 2017 but left for Inter two years later.

He then won the Serie A title in the 2020/21 season under ex-Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.

The former teammates clearly enjoyed a close relationship and Lukaku’s unapologetic praise is to be savoured.

Both men are undeniable successes with strong roles for club and country.

Although Everton fans may rue the absence of their quality, the club was £126 million better-off for it.
