Everton submit £5million bid for Rangers’ academy starlet as potential Seamus Coleman heir

Everton appears to be in the market for a potential heir to captain and long-term servant Seamus Coleman.

The Republic of Ireland international signed for the Toffees back in 2009 from Sligo Rovers for just £63,000.

Since then, Coleman has become captain of the club and been one of their greatest servants in the Premier League.

As many football fans know, however, fairy tales don’t last forever, and there will soon come a day when Colemans retires.

With that comes the difficult task of replacing such an important and talented player in today’s market.

According to The Mirror, the club may have just found him in the form of Rangers academy star Nathan Patterson.

The report suggests that the Toffees have submitted a £5million bid for the 19-year-old right-back…

Patterson made 14 appearances in all competitions for Rangers last season, scoring two goals along the way.

It is smart of the club to start looking for a potential heir for Coleman now, where he can learn from the man himself.

The Scottish youngster is yet to cement his place in the Rangers starting XI with James Tavernier a tough opponent.

However, it is a great player to learn from and Everton’s interest in Patterson clearly highlights his talent.

A £5million fee is a lot greater than his market value but is still a great deal for a player with such potential.

It is yet to be decided by Rangers but it is likely they may reject the fee, with Patterson a great young talent.

However, there is still a chance the Toffees could secure a deal for the right-back if they can reach an agreement with Rangers.
