Everton ace James Rodriguez spotted at airport ahead of move

Having found himself as an outcast under Rafa Benitez, Everton playmaker James Rodriguez looks set for a Goodison Park exit.

As shared on Twitter by Everton fan account Everton Blue Army (@EvertonBlueArmy), the news of a potential Everton exit broke from Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra on social media.

Having had the source followed up by Sky Sports, James Rodriguez underwent a medical in Dubai ahead of a potential transfer to a club in Qatar and will have talks with the club about personal terms today.

Everton have already accepted a bid from the club which is rumoured to be Qatari side Al-Rayyan, but this is unconfirmed by Sierra.

Rodriguez was a flagship signing under former Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti with the attacking midfielder joining on an initial two-year deal following an early release from La Liga giants Real Madrid.

In his time in an Everton shirt, he has scored six goals and added nine assists in just 26 outings but has yet to feature in the league under Benitez this season.

As has been circulated on social media, the attacker has been spotted at Manchester Airport with one fan account on Twitter speculating that the creative maestro is on his way to the Middle East.

With Benitez and Rodriguez having a feud between them that stretched back to their days at Real Madrid, it seems the rift that exists is irreconcilable with Rodriguez absent from Everton squads.

Offloading an unwanted asset for a fee, shaving wages off the wage bill in the process, is a necessary compromise if Benitez refuses to rehabilitate the Colombian.
