Virals: Crystal Palace eye swoop for Everton ace Tom Davies

Everton academy product Tom Davies is on the radar of rival Premier League Crystal Palace as uncertainty continues to swirl over his future in an Everton shirt.

The club-grown talent is reportedly wanted by the Eagles who are monitoring his situation going into next year, according to Football Insider.

The midfielder has yet to start a game under Rafa Benitez and has cut a more peripheral figure under the new Toffees tactician.

Accordingly, it seems as though Patrick Vieira’s side could be tempted into prodding Everton as to the availability of their youth academy product as they search for reinforcements in midfield.

Taking to Twitter, Crystal Palace transfer news account CPFC Transfers HQ (@CPFCTransfersHQ) summarised the news with the Football Insider tagline as they alerted Palace fans to the potential for their club to swoop.

Davies is out of contract in 2023 and there has been no talk of a contract extension at present.

Crystal Palace’s own midfielder situation means that they could be eyeing up Everton as a potential source to plug gaps in the middle of the park.

A busy summer of recruitment for Palace saw Watford enforcer Will Hughes join permanently and Conor Gallagher sign on loan from Chelsea – and the latter has started every game bar the Eagles’ opener against Gallagher’s parent club.

According to Football Insider, Gallagher is set to compete for a first-team spot at Chelsea next season, meaning Palace could replace the void left by his summer departure from Davies.

From Everton’s perspective, a deal looks viable – but Davies offers insurance in depth that the club may not wish to lose.

matchday.
