Everton’s emphatic 3-0 victory over Chelsea at the weekend meant the Toffees are now just three points off fifth position in the Premier League table.

David Moyes was more than happy with the overall display. Although it was a team effort and everyone played their part, Beto was clearly the standout, with an incredible two-goal haul that proved too much for Chelsea to handle.

Beto’s impressive display hasn’t gone unnoticed. Former Everton player Tony Hibbert has acknowledged the forward’s performance and heaped praise on him.

Hibbert praises Beto and rest of Everton squad

The Everton legend said he believes that Beto’s showing against Chelsea was one of the best the striker has ever produced for the Toffees, as revealed by the official website of Everton. Hibbert further stated on Matchday Live:

“That was different class from the lads. The overall performance – from every single one of them – was unbelievable. Everyone put a shift in and there was real quality about it as well. We got the three goals and the scoreline didn’t even flatter us by the end.”

He added, “It might be easy to play down the quality Chelsea have because of this little patch they’re having but they have quality all over the pitch. For me, it was probably the best performance of the season so far.”

Beto has been crowned Premier League Player of the Matchweek

Unsurprisingly, Beto was named Player of the Matchweek for his heroics in match week 31. His brace against Chelsea has also taken his goalscoring tally to seven in 34 matches this season in all competitions, but he still needs to find the back of the net five more times to equal last season’s tally.

Everton, who are sitting in eighth position in the Premier League table, have seven more games in hand to close in on the three-point gap they currently have to Liverpool, who are placed fifth, giving them a chance at European qualification for next season.

The Toffees have won three out of their last five Premier League matches, which include wins against Chelsea and Newcastle United.

If they can manage to slightly improve their form and build on this momentum, there is a real chance Everton will achieve a top-five finish at the end of the season.

It now remains to be seen if they can make it happen.
