- Arsenal currently sit top of the Premier League and boast the best defence.
- With 15 clean sheets, the Gunners have impressed at the back this season.
- Everton are admirers of Arsenal defender Cristhian Mosquera.
Everton’s push for Europe has been built on their resilient defence.
The Blues have achieved the third-highest number of clean sheets in the Premier League this season, and David Moyes has turned his side into a well-drilled defensive machine.
They have used a combination of James Tarkowski, Michael Keane and Jarrard Branthwaite as starting centre backs, and have used this depth effectively.
But with two of this trio being over the age of 30, the Toffees might seek to add some young blood to their defensive unit and add this Arsenal star to their ranks.
Everton are interested in Cristhian Mosquera
Cristhian Mosquera has been floated as a potential new addition to the Everton defence, according to Ekrem Konur.
After making a switch from Valencia to North London at the start of this season, the Spaniard has struggled to break into the starting XI.
| Competition | Apperances |
| Premier League | 15 |
| Carabao Cup | 2 |
| FA Cup | 3 |
| Champions League | 7 |
Before moving to Arsenal, Mosquera was a key man at Valencia and made 79 appearances in his final two seasons there.
Although he has faced a reduction in his playing minutes, the 21-year-old was recently rewarded with his senior debut for the Spanish national team.
On top of achieving his first international cap, Mosquera is also an Olympic gold medalist after featuring in Spain’s winning side at the 2024 games.
Cristhian Mosquera could be a permanent or loan transfer
Arsenal’s current central defensive duo of Gabriel and William Saliba is arguably the finest in world football.
This makes Mosquera’s chances in Mikel Arteta’s side heavily reliant on injuries and suspensions to their starting centre backs.
But at 21 years old, the Spaniard has time on his side and could be viewed by the Gunners as a signing for the future.
As a signing who has potential in North London, Arsenal may be tempted to let the centre back go out on loan and gain more experience as a consistent starter.
While loans only offer a short-term boost, should Everton qualify for a European competition, Mosquera could be the immediate injection of depth they require to compete on the continental stage.
