On playing for England, Jordan Pickford added, “Playing for England has been so important for me and an incredible experience. All of those games have helped me prepare for now, when you’re away from home for weeks at a time, you learn things and it’s about enjoying it as well.”

Wayne Rooney, speaking previously, said: “His performances for Everton but more so for England in the big tournaments, have been incredible. When people talk about keepers worldwide, he doesn’t get mentioned that often but he is definitely up there.”
