- Everton are undergoing a resurgence under manager David Moyes.
- The Scotsman has turned his side from relegation battlers to European hopefuls.
- Three players from his team have scored eight league goals this season.
Everton maintain their pursuit of a European spot with just three matches remaining in the Premier League season.
After facing four successive relegation battles, the Toffees are at last at the other end of the table and dreaming of a return to Europe for the first time since 2017.
David Moyes returned to Merseyside in January 2025, and since then, the club has been on the up.
Following the Blues’ draw against Manchester City, they achieved a stat that has not been matched since the 1989-90 season.
Three Everton players have scored eight or more Premier League goals
Once Thierno Barry netted his second goal of the evening against City, he notched his Premier League goal tally for the season to eight.
This meant he was the third Toffee to have scored eight league goals this season, alongside Beto and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
Everton have not managed to have three players do this since the 1989-90 season, when Tony Cottee, Kevin Sheedy and Norman Whiteside all scored eight or more league goals in royal blue.
Iliman Ndiaye could also add himself to the list of players to score eight this season, with the Senegalese international sitting on six Premier League goals.
Beto, Barry, and Dewsbury-Hall will also hope to become the first Everton player since Richarlison in 2022 to achieve double figures in goals, after the Brazilian netted 10 times during his last season at Goodison Park.
Promising signs from David Moyes’ side
The Toffees in recent years, have struggled to find natural goal scorers in their side.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin showed promise in becoming a key talisman for his team, yet injury setbacks hindered opportunities to do so.
| Season | Player | Premier League Goals |
| 2022-23 | D. McNeil | 7 |
| 2023-24 | D. Calvert-Lewin/A. Doucoure | 7 |
| 2024-25 | I. Ndiaye | 9 |
In two of the three past seasons, no player managed to achieve more than seven league goals for the Blues.
Yet Moyes has managed to create a side that currently has three outfielders who have already bettered those totals.
Some may argue that it is quite embarrassing that it has taken so long for Everton to have multiple players prove their goal-scoring ability, but on the flipside, it is a sign of progress at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
There is concrete evidence that the Toffees are on the up, and Evertonians will expect even more goals ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
