Everton players at World Cup tracker: Every Blue featured in North America 2026

Pickford, Gueye, Ndiaye and Patterson have all featured at the World Cup so far, but only three of those four have knockout football to look forward to.

England topped Group L with a 2-0 win over Panama, Senegal squeezed through as one of the best third-placed sides after thumping Iraq 5-0, but Scotland’s tournament is over following their 3-0 defeat to Brazil — a result that also cost Steve Clarke his job, with the Scotland boss resigning once their exit was confirmed.

England now face DR Congo and Senegal take on Belgium in the round of 32, with both ties to be played on Wednesday, 1 July.

ReadEverton will continue to update this tracker as Everton’s representatives progress through the knockout rounds.

Jordan Pickford (England)

Pickford started for a third straight match as England closed out the group stage with a 2-0 win over Panama, goals from Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane in the second half enough to see off a spirited Panama side and secure top spot in Group L. Kane’s header moved him above Gary Lineker as England’s all-time leading World Cup scorer.

The Everton goalkeeper was called into action more than he had been against Croatia or Ghana, with Panama testing him on the counter and seeing a second-half effort from José Fajardo ruled out for offside.

England now turn their attention to DR Congo in the round of 32, a tie Pickford and his teammates will start as firm favourites in.

Idrissa Gana Gueye (Senegal)

Gueye started as Senegal went looking for the win they needed against Iraq, and he had a hand in the opener — his early effort from the edge of the box was deflected behind for the corner that Habib Diarra converted just moments later. With Senegal needing goals as well as points, Pape Thiaw made wholesale second-half changes that turned a tight one into a 5-0 rout.

It capped a much-needed response from Senegal after back-to-back defeats to France and Norway, and Gueye’s contribution at the start of the move set the tone for what followed.

Iliman Ndiaye (Senegal)

Ndiaye came off the bench against Iraq and made an immediate impact, heading the ball down for a teammate’s fourth goal of the game before adding one of his own — a rifled finish from outside the box — to round off the scoring with eight minutes left. It was the Everton forward’s first goal of the tournament and his second appearance, having been an unused substitute against Norway.

With Senegal’s goal difference flipped from minus-three to plus-two by the win, Ndiaye’s intervention played its part in getting them over the line as one of the best third-placed teams.

Nathan Patterson (Scotland)

Patterson’s World Cup is over after Scotland’s 3-0 defeat to Brazil in their final group game, Vinícius Júnior inspiring a comfortable win that confirmed Scotland would finish bottom of Group C. The Everton full-back was withdrawn in the 82nd minute with the result long since decided. A fuller breakdown of his performance, including how it might shape his standing at Everton heading into next season, is available in our match report on Scotland’s defeat to Brazil.

Scotland needed a string of results to go their way elsewhere to sneak through as one of the best third-placed sides, and none of them materialised. Steve Clarke resigned as manager once the elimination was confirmed, bringing the curtain down on his time in charge.

Everton’s World Cup representation

It’s been a mixed week for Everton’s World Cup contingent, but it ends with three players still in the competition. Senegal’s emphatic win over Iraq, with Gueye involved in the opener and Ndiaye scoring off the bench, was enough to send them through as one of the best third-placed sides, setting up a last-32 meeting with Belgium. England wrapped up Group L in style, Pickford keeping his second clean sheet of the tournament before facing DR Congo next.

Patterson and Scotland’s journey ends here, with Steve Clarke’s resignation drawing a line under their campaign after a tough group containing Morocco and Brazil.

This page will be updated again once the round of 32 ties have been played.
