Everton have submitted a formal offer to Bayer Leverkusen for Christian Kofane, according to Africa Foot, marking the next step in a pursuit ReadEverton reported on earlier this week.
Africa Foot, the outlet that first revealed Everton’s interest in accelerating a deal and the agent talks that followed, now says the Toffees have gone a step further with a concrete proposal to Leverkusen. The claim has been repeated widely across outlets including GiveMeSport, OneFootball and Yahoo Sports, though all trace back to the same original report rather than independent confirmation, and neither Everton nor Leverkusen have commented.
Everton have long admired the 19-year-old and tracked him before his move from Albacete to Leverkusen last summer, continuing to monitor his progress throughout a breakthrough campaign in Germany. David Moyes’ side are understood to have decided to act as competition intensifies, with Arsenal, Newcastle United and Barcelona all previously linked.
Kofane scored five goals and provided four assists in 29 Bundesliga appearances during 2025-26, despite starting only 12 matches. No fee has been disclosed for Everton’s proposal. His agent, Eric Depolo, has previously valued him at €100m, though that figure reflects the agent’s own assessment rather than a confirmed asking price. Leverkusen are under no financial pressure to sell, with Kofane under contract until June 2029.
Everton currently have Thierno Barry and Beto as their senior striker options. Leverkusen are yet to respond formally to the approach.
