Alan Hutton admires Richarlison’s Everton mentality

Alan Hutton has taken aim at Everton talisman Richarlison for his attitude during Everton’s 3-1 win over Burnley on Monday night.

Hutton claimed during BBC Live’s coverage of Everton’s victory over the clarets that Richarlison threw his “toys out of the pram” upon being substituted.

He failed to contribute a goal or an assist during the win, despite ample opportunities to do so. He was then subbed for Salomon Rondon on 81 minutes, prompting a negative reaction from Richarlison.

However, Hutton had some praise reserved for the Olympic gold winner following his emotional reaction as he commented on the winning mentality it demonstrated.

“Richarlison is not happy he’s getting taken off, he really threw his toys out the pram, he wouldn’t even talk to his manager,” Hutton said (via TBR).

“That just shows what he’s about, he wants to stay on, he wants to win.”

It was far from a vintage Richarlison performance, but Everton fans will know all-too well that it is not wholly reflective of his overall quality.

Hutton boasts some merit for his commentary – it is no bad thing necessarily.

Richarlison has already shown his ardent desire to be a top-level competitor following his success in the Olympics with Brazil, and he is more likely frustrated that he could not contribute more directly to his team’s performance.
