Allardyce Hoping To Sign Mangala Today

Everton are confident of bringing in Manchester City’s Eliaquim Mangala on loan for the rest of the season transfer deadline day, reports Sky Sports. Allardyce has recruited Cenk Tosun and Theo Walcott this window in an attempt to overturn his side’s poor season and it appears a strengthening of the defence is his next priority.

Mangala joined Manchester City in 2014 after a £31.8m move from FC Porto. The Frenchman has struggled since joining City and was loaned out to Valencia last season and made 30 appearances for the Spanish side.

It was reported that Everton were keen on bringing in a left-back before the window closes, with Bristol City defender Joe Bryan being a particular target, but it seems that a central defender is now the main priority for Allardyce.

Valencia are also looking at Mangala, as they wish to bring the 26-year-old back to Spain, along with West Ham United and Newcastle United, who have also made an enquiry to Man City regarding their man.

Everton, though, front-runners for the French international and will be hoping to get the deal wrapped up quickly and possibly look for further acquisitions before 11pm tonight.
