Journalist reveals Carlo Ancelotti forced his way out of Everton to secure Real Madrid job

Tuesday evening saw Carlo Ancelotti leave his role as Everton manager to return to former club Real Madrid.

The Italian had played down the rumours over his return just a week prior to his departure.

At first it seemed as though Ancelotti was simply turning down an offer he couldn’t refuse.

However, it appears to be further from the truth, with journalist Duncan Castles revealing all yesterday.

During his The Transfer Window podcast, Castles revealed how Ancelotti had forced his way out of his Everton contract…

As quoted by FootyAccums above, Ancelotti had in fact told his representatives and Real that he was unhappy at Everton.

This then allowed the Spanish club and Ancelotti’s team to force their way out of his Toffees contract.

It seems a very sneaky move to have to make given that he seemed perfectly happy in charge the week before.

What”s worse is that the Italian notified Real to take advantage of a clause in his contract.

This meant that the La Liga giants didn’t have to pay Everton a single penny despite their actions.

It is a shame to see the Italian’s 18 months at Goodison end in such a way, given the love and support he received from Evertonians.

Hopefully, the club can find the right replacement to help towards the club’s attempted rebuild.

Names such as Nuno Espirito Santo and Maurizio Sarri have already been mentioned, but a decision is yet to be made.
