It has been just two days since Carlo Ancelotti left Everton to return to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Now comes the difficult task of finding a new manager to carry on the clubs plans to the next step.

Names have been mooted, such as ex-Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo after leaving the club this summer.

As well as that, shock mentions for both Rafa Benitez and Steven Gerrard have been mentioned but are unlikely.

However, the latest name to be linked with the job is not only realistic, but also quite exciting.

According to Calcio Mercato, former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is in contention for the Everton job…

The news, as cited by The Mighty Blues on Twitter, could spell a fantastic appointment by the Everton board.

Sarri, although inexperience compared to Ancelotti, has succeeded wherever he has gone.

Having managed Napoli, Chelsea, and Juventus at the top level, the Italian has incredible experience.

Despite not managing a club since August last year, the last two seasons in football he has won two trophies.

A Europa League trophy in 2019 with Chelsea and a Serie A title in 2020 with Juventus highlights a great few seasons.

If the club were to make a move for Sarri, they could easily carry on their current plans of growth.

Time will tell who the club choose to appoint, but one thing for sure is that Sarri would be a great appointment.
