Dell responds to Everton takeover links after fresh report

Michael Dell has appeared to dismiss fresh reports linking his family with a potential takeover of Everton.

The technology billionaire’s name resurfaced amid speculation over parties interested in the club after The Friedkin Group opened the door to new investment or the possible sale of its controlling stake.

The response appears to pour cold water on suggestions that Dell is personally pursuing a deal for Everton, although he stopped short of issuing an explicit denial.

His name is already familiar from Everton’s previous takeover process. In 2024, Andy Bell and George Downing’s bid had financial backing associated with Dell’s family office, but reports at the time played down suggestions that Dell himself was looking to become the club’s owner.

That history made the fresh link notable as Everton once again consider a change of ownership, although Dell’s response suggests considerable caution should be applied to the latest speculation.

TFG confirmed earlier this month that it is exploring new investment options, including the potential sale of a controlling interest, less than two years after completing its takeover from Farhad Moshiri.

The group has appointed Moelis & Company to oversee the process and said it would only consider parties it believes are capable of taking Everton forward.

Dell’s intervention therefore removes some of the excitement from one of the more eye-catching names linked with the club as the search for potential investors or a new owner continues.
