Everton monitoring Real Sociedad striker Orri Óskarsson ahead of January – report

Everton are monitoring Real Sociedad striker Orri Óskarsson as David Moyes considers adding another centre-forward to his squad in January, according to a report.

The 22-year-old Iceland captain has caught the eye during an impressive run of form in Spain, with Everton among several Premier League clubs said to be following his progress.

Everton keeping tabs on Óskarsson

TEAMtalk reports that Everton are paying particular attention to Óskarsson ahead of the winter window. Tottenham, Newcastle, Sunderland and Brentford are also credited with an interest, although there is no suggestion that talks have taken place or an offer has been made.

Óskarsson has scored in each of his past three club appearances, finding the net against Málaga and Lillestrøm before striking after six minutes of Sociedad’s 2-1 victory over Levante on Sunday. He joined the Spanish club from FC Copenhagen in 2024 and scored nine La Liga goals last season, while his progress has also seen him take on the Iceland captaincy.

Another centre-forward would address an obvious shortage in Moyes’ squad. Beto joined Fiorentina during the summer and a proposed deadline-day move for Folarin Balogun subsequently collapsed, leaving Thierno Barry as Everton’s only recognised senior option through the middle.

Former captain Seamus Coleman has since questioned the decision to sell Beto without first securing another striker. Moyes has also acknowledged the difficulty of resting Barry because of the focal point he provides, increasing the importance of finding another option capable of sharing that workload.

Óskarsson appears to be one player under consideration rather than the subject of an advanced move. His recent form and age make him an understandable name for Everton to monitor, but the reported interest from elsewhere means they may face competition if that develops into a January approach.
