Anderlecht reach Agreement to extend Onyekuru loan

Anderlecht have reportedly reached an agreement with Everton to extend Henry Onyekuru’s loan at the Belgian giants, according to The Liverpool Echo.

Onyekuru joined Everton last summer for £7m from Belgian side Eupen, but then immediately went back to Belgium, on loan at RSC Anderlecht.

He has been impressive for Anderlecht this season, scoring 10 goals in 27 appearances, nine of those goals coming in the Jupiler League, which Anderlecht sit currently second in, five points behind Club Brugge with four games to go.

However, Onyekuru was injured in a match against his old side Eupen prior to Christmas 2017 and has been out injured since, and so with the youngster scoring nine goals in just the first half of the league campaign, Anderlecht are keen to extend the loan.

He returned to Finch Farm to recover from his knee injury but he is now back in Belgium and hopes to get back on the pitch before the season draws to a close.

However, it is believed that although Everton and Anderlecht have an agreement, Onyekuru is not willing to sign for a further year unless he knows that Anderlecht will be playing in the Champions League next season.

The top two Belgian sides go into Europe’s elite competition, but Standard Liege are only two points behind Anderlecht.

matchday.
