Andre Gomes was forced off through injury shortly before half-time as Everton take on Crystal Palace this afternoon at Selhurst Park.
The Portugal midfielder pulled up feeling the back of his leg and after receiving some on-field treatment, was substituted for JP Gbamin to make his Everton debut.

While Gbamin joins Morgan Schneiderlin in midfield, Gomes joins Fabian Delph on the sidelines.

It’s always a shame to see a player pull up in their first game of the season where they’ll inevitably be looking to impress, especially when they’re as influential to the club’s overall play as Andre Gomes is.
However, while it isn’t an ideal situation for Everton to be in, it does give Gbamin the chance to make an impression on his debut.
Many Everton fans however were actually more frustrated with Everton’s lack of goal threat in the first-half, venting at the club on Twitter.
