Serge Gnabry now barely resembles the young winger that left Arsenal in 2016.
The 24-year old decided to reject the offer of a new deal at the Emirates in favour of swapping London for Werder Bremen, after first-team opportunities under Arsene Wenger began to dry up.
Following his move to Bayern Munich in 2017, the Germany international has gone from strength to strength, culminating in a performance many Arsenal fans will have loved to see last night, where the winger scored four in a 7-2 Champions League routing over Tottenham.

Gnabry began to lose first-team opportunities following the emergence of Alex Iwobi at Arsenal, with the Nigerian needing time on the field to develop for the Gunners, an ironic move with him now having left the club too.
Following Gnabry’s performance last night, many Arsenal fans took to Twitter to cry out about his departure from the Premier League club, with many poking blame at the Everton summer signing for playing his part in the German’s exit.
Twitter: I still don’t know how arsenal sold gnabry for basically nothing

Football is a funny game, isn’t it?
You can never know what will be and what won’t be regarding talent development until it arrives on your doorstep. I always thought selling Serge Gnabry after his breakthrough onto the scene was a strange step for Wenger to take, but I wasn’t aware it was in order to better support Iwobi.
From an Everton perspective, as most things on this site are, that has worked out well for us. Arsenal no longer have a player of Gnabry’s ability, they further developed Iwobi who now lines up in royal blue, and the Toffees have a solid Premier League forward with further room for improvement.
Everything worked out well, it seems.
