Everton midfielder Gareth Barry has reassured Toffees fans that at this stage of the season there is nothing to worry regarding their inconsistent form, but he called on his teammates to use the Goodison Park atmosphere to their advantage ahead of tonight’s Capital One Cup semi-final against Manchester City.
The experienced defensive midfielder has been a key figure since regular captain Phil Jagielka picked up an injury, as the 34-year-old has been filling in for the England defender as stand-in captain.
However, Barry and his Everton side are now turning their attention towards a huge clash against Manchester City on Wednesday night as they look to get an advantage at Goodison Park in the Capital One Cup semi-final first leg.
You will feel that tension in the air. This club are waiting to make the step to Wembley. The players are aware of that. I am. It is down to us to get on the pitch and achieve the performance that will set us up to get through.

Barry also expressed the importance of having a home tie in the first leg, speaking of how much of a boost it can be to his Everton side on Wednesday.
“I have experienced the atmosphere as an opposition player and, for me, Goodison is the toughest away ground to come to.
“At the minute we are not using that to our advantage for some reason. That is what we need to set up on Wednesday.
Under the lights here, the atmosphere is that much stronger. We need to use that to our advantage.
Everton will hope to take one step closer to Wembley with a monumental victory over Manchester City on Wednesday evening.
