Bayern Munich eye Jordan Pickford in potential 2027 move

Bayern Munich have reportedly added Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford to their list of options as they consider their goalkeeping plans beyond 2027.

Journalist Alan Nixon reports that Bayern are gathering information on the 32-year-old England international, with Vincent Kompany said to have sought opinions on Pickford from contacts within the game.

Pickford reportedly moves up Bayern shortlist

Pickford is also reported to have moved ahead of Bart Verbruggen among Bayern’s potential targets, although there is no suggestion at this stage that an approach has been made to Everton.

The interest comes with Manuel Neuer, now 40, under contract at Bayern until June 2027. The German champions also have 23-year-old Jonas Urbig, whom Bayern sporting director Max Eberl described in May as being on a path towards becoming the club’s goalkeeper of the future.

Everton, meanwhile, have no intention of selling Pickford, according to subsequent reporting on the story. The goalkeeper signed a new four-year contract in October 2025, keeping him at the Hill Dickinson until 2029, and there has been no indication that he wants to leave Merseyside.

The Bayern link arrives at an interesting time for Pickford. His position with England has come under scrutiny after Thomas Tuchel gave James Trafford an opportunity in the Nations League, with former Three Lions goalkeeper Paul Robinson questioning why Pickford was left out against Spain.

That debate concerns his international place rather than his Everton future, where Pickford remains firmly established as David Moyes’ first choice.

For now, Bayern’s reported interest appears to amount to groundwork rather than the beginnings of a transfer. Pickford has a long-term Everton contract, the Blues don’t want to sell and no approach has been reported.
